Context diagrams

While package diagrams depict all entities within a FIBO ontology, the context diagrams show design patterns that model a particular subject.

In the FIBO, Currency is a subtype of the Measurement Unit, which is both a Scalar Quantity and a Measurement Reference.

On the left side of the diagram, we see Financial Instruments, with Currency as the denomination, for buying/selling Currency. Settlement Terms specify a currency.

The right side shows FIBO LOANS entities that have or use a currency.

Agent hierarchy

FIBO, and thus FIB-DM, has 15 fundamental Business concepts. They are also the 15 ultimate supertypes with the most subtypes—the most extensive hierarchies.

The hierarchy diagrams show the inheritances (subtypes) of the concept entity.

The Object Management Group, OMG Commons ontology, defines the Agent as something autonomous that can adapt to and interact with its environment. The diagram shows a 10-level hierarchy with 95 subtypes of the Agent.

The most important branches are the Person, Legal Entity, Organization, Government Body, and Business Entity. Software Agents and other Automated Systems also interact (with customers or trading markets), which also makes them Agents.
